Telling a Story Through the Places You've Been

Do you know what I love about social media? It acts like an archive for memories. As I scroll through my Instagram, I see pictures of the past and start to remember those times like they were yesterday.

And I know what you're thinking, Kate have you heard of a photo album? Yes I have, but can you add little captions to each photo that reminds you have that memory?

No! I mean you can make a physical photo album and write captions on them, but who has the time for that? Not me.

Another great thing about social media, is you get to share those memories with your friends and family. Maybe people you don't see a lot to show them your physical photo album.

The little apps on your phone, tablet, or your computer desktop turned into your own personal story.

Each picture was taken at an exact moment in an exact location. Showing what you did and where you visited. Sharing all your experiences.

Experiences that shaped you as person you are today. I know when I look at my Facebook or Instagram and see pictures I posted years ago. I know that I am not that same person today, but I can see the places I went that made me change into the person I am today.

Social media turns into your own personal location based narrative.

While I was abroad, I got to tell my experiences to my relatives back home via social media. They got they see where I went and the stories I had to tell.

You don't have to send multiple pictures and a long explanation to multiple people, just one post and you're done. Yes, I know I'm glamorizing social media, and I might be a little contradicting to some people right now because they know I'm not the biggest fan of it.

But I am going to give credit where credit is due, and this is one of the things social media does do well.

If you ever go abroad. I highly recommend posting about everything you did and everywhere you went. You won't regret it.

For the next blog post, I am going to go into detail about a story I told with my personal social media, kind of what I discussed in this blog post! Comment below on which story you want to hear!

-How I almost killed my family on the Eiffel tower when I was five and my mom is still salty about it.

-How doing Disney the wrong way vs. the right way impacts your family dynamic.

-How having a educator as a parent impacts your vacations.
