Collaborating With Hashtags

Hashtags, the internet's way to bringing the digital community together. Moving individual posts into one big archive of relevant digital content. They can be used at events, used for different activities, or used for pretty much anything that has to deal with collaboration. When I went abroad with my school.

We used a hashtag to share our individual experiences with not only each other, but the rest of the world.

Hashtags are a form of conscious collaboration. Meaning, we pick and choose what we want to share willingly. We are totally aware of what we are adding.

It's actually pretty amazing how hashtags work. You can see the same event, moment, or location from different viewpoints. Seeing different people's prospective that correlate with "one story".

We used #pittstudyabroad to post and share our experiences. You not only see students from my trip, but from almost every study abroad location.

I loved going abroad, and I am going to make a habit out of it. One of the ways of choosing where to take my suitcase next, is going to that hashtag and see what others witnessed.

When you post, use a hashtag or pin point that location. Add to the story. Collaborate with the world.

Show your prospective. There's almost a hashtag for everything. Every place and activity has a story. Doesn't have one yet? Build the hashtag. Let others had to the story you created.

The world wants to see what you created.

You can make a hashtag broad and simple, inviting more people to add to the story.

Or you can make it as difficult and specific so it is only your story, only you can decide who adds to it. Either way, it's building a story in the digital community.
