One of my favorite things to do is travel and experience new cultures. In the 22 years I have been alive, I have visited 11 countries and lived in 2. When I was 5 years old, my family lived in Germany for about 6 months. We had an apartment in Mannheim, Germany. I will go in depth about this time a little more in a future blog post. I would say that this trip, even at the age of 5. I have grew an appreciation for learning different cultures and experiences. One of the biggest lessons I learned from these experiences, is that you grow to appreciate the
home you have when you live in a completely different country.
Since that time living abroad, I did not get that same experience back till I was 21 during the summer of 2018. I decided to use my university as a pathway to experience a new culture. For a little over a month, I lived in Dublin, Ireland. This time without my family. I flew to a foreign country by myself and lived there with roommates I only met when I got there. Even though it was only for 6 weeks, it will also stick with me the struggles I had and overcame.
Going abroad is something I enjoy, but something I might even enjoy more is adventuring to places that don't require a passport. The United States have all hidden gems and wonders. I did not really appreciate this fully till I went abroad. If I had to pick one place to go for the rest of my life, I would pick Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Disney has always been in my life, and it would never leave. I've been to Walt Disney World 10 times, Disneyland in California twice, and only once to Disneyland in Paris. There's six parks in the world, and I plan to get to all 6. There is just something about the feeling Disney gives you. There will be a couple future blog posts about everything Disney.
Traveling back in 2001 vs. traveling today is very different. In future blog posts I will be touching on how different it is to travel in today's world than back then, and it's all thanks to digital media. Digital media has changed how we do in all aspects of life. Traveling is just one of them. But these vacation spots have flourished because of Digital Media, and I will investigate how that is so. In the next couple months, you'll learn how an average girl like me does her traveling and how it is impacted by digital media. I will hope you enjoy it!
